Default 05 Chevy Tahoe Tpms reset problem

I have a 2005 tahoe.just installed aftermarket rims and tires.cannot get the tpms to sync.do I need a scanner to do this.i have tried the basic ones .

there are various ways to do it, depending on year and model.
Some vehicles have a DIC menu item. Some you need to hold down the buttons on the FOB. I was able to put mine into TPMS relearn mode, but it wouldn't detect the change. So I ended buying a knock-off of the GM EL-50448 relearn tool for $6 on eBay. It worked for me.

Gotta get round to doing this with my 2015 Malibu. Showed a tire lower then 35 PSI but not the correct tire. Got out tire gauge and found it and fixed it. I need to change out my original key fob with an aftermarket as it's falling apart. $15 bucks for the shell, same motherboard, did it with the spare fob. Programs itself in the lock which is nice.

Pissed off that Chevy is putting a Constant Velocity transmission in the new 2020 Malibu's, but keeping this one till she blows up in my face, then I'll still fix and keep her, so no big deal.
