07+ hacking
has anyone succesfully gotten to see the 'brains' of the 07+ tahoe?
I work on computer for a living and would love to be able to check out the programming / etc
I'd also love to be able to tell it 'when rain sensor feels rain' and car is parked and off, put up the windows + close sunroof...

Here is what it looks like...

Jk man, I am studying the GM computer as well but cant sucessfully answer your question yet. Its pretty complex and hard to just look at on a screen and change things. I ordered some software that will help me understand them more by watching how they communicate with all the other sensors and PCM.
If anyone else here has some input on anything about how they think or what the programming limits are, please post.

Long story short........There are 3 data circuits in a GM vehicle.
High Speed LAN (+)
High Speed LAN (-)
Low Speed LAN
The high speed lan wires work together to deliver info to all modules that are connected to the circuit. These modules can communicate in real time.....Many MANY times a second. The important modules use these data lines. ie PCM,BCM,ABS,AIRBAG
The low speed data lines utilize only 1 wire for data communication through 1's and 0's. The low speed data line is capable of transfering data at a rate of about 80kb\sec. Unimportant modules like radios, overhead video, amplifiers, comfort controls, use this system. You can usually find the low speed lan circuit at nearly every module in the, even if it has high speed lan going to it.
All modules work together as a team and operate together. Epecially the modules on the high speed bus, when one goes down, it can cause catastrophic failure.

Thanks Shawn! That helps me understand a little bit more about them. I guess its like a PC network at home, If your router/switch fails, communication is lost and PCs cant tell the others what to do.

now all we need is a USB jack under the front and a laptop lol...
maybe someone will find a way to reprogram some of the lesser functions...
like my window close on rain sense function.
I thought of another one last weekend, but can't recall it now...

perhaps it would stop them from then flicking the butt on to our roads.
I HATE smoke and HATE people who leave the butts everywhere like they will somehow magically disappear... they wont.
I'd also make a few other minor changes to the tahoe... the canceling of the voice commands should just say 'canceled' not 'Voice Recognition Canceled'.. I know what I pressed... it means I'm in a hurry and want to move on to something else, I don't want a novel about what I just did... lol
also the navigation should be hard drive based like the MyGig or Sync... the noises from the DVD drive are just wrong in such a nice truck...
