Default 07 TAHOE BRAKES SQUEAKING!

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2007 tahoe with about 11K miles on it and recently my brakes squeak real loud especially when I first start it up in the morning and go to work. I have taken the Tahoe into the dealer and they said these brakes are good up to about 80K miles. All they did was clean it up.Thesqueakingdid go away for a day but now it's back. Any suggestions?

disk brakes squeak because the metal backing plate of the disk pad vibrates against the metal caliper. Auto parts stores sell a spray can of stop squeak that you spray on the metal back of the brake pads. It's kind of like a rubbery spray paint thatstops the metal to metal vibration. It's a cheap fix that should work.

I got that same annoying squeak. I was told to pressure wash the brakes to get rid of any contaminants but it didn't help. Let me guess, only light pressure does it and it goes away after a few minutes of driving? Let me know the fix...I need it bad.

yes it does go away after a few mins of driving. I can believe that a 50K suv will have an embarrassing squeak like that.

MY 2007 with 3800miles squeeks all the time, I'm taking it in for my first oil change and will see if they can address it, most likely not though, I agree, my sticker was $51,700 +/- and with all the other annoying problems I've had it's very upsetting. NO CONSUMER REPORTS CRAP PLEASE!!!!!!

I believe the noise to be from condensation forming on your brake rotors then slightly rusting. I believe that is why the noise goes away after the brakes get warm. It only happens to me when humidity is real high or alot of rain fell the night before. I am not worried about it.

It is kind of embarassing. I'm gonna try the stop squeak today. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Well apparently the stop squeak requires you to pull the brakes off. I'm not in the mood to get that deep into this now. I just bought $1500 worth of crap for my hot rod I gotta install first.
