Default 07 Tahoe Retained Accessory Power

I was in my Tahoe the other day on the passenger side. I turned the key to the accessory position to check something out, and when I turned it to off the radio stayed on. I know that this is how it should work for ten minutes, but my question is when I opened the passenger door, everything stayed on. I thought that once you open the door the system should all turn off. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Yep...only the driver door can kill the retained accessory power mode.

Previous years, any door would kill the retained power.

Kind of a related question, but a dumb one. When using the remote start I noticed if you hit the button a 2nd time while the engine is running (key still not inserted), the engine will turn off. Anyone know if this is the "proper" way to shut the engine off if you change your mind before getting in, or should I get in, insert the key and turn to on, wait a few seconds, and turn off. I just don't want to be draining my battery or something because I only turned it halfway off.

Thanks. I know in my 02 Trailblazer I could use any door to kill the power, so I wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem with my Tahoe. You would think they would at least make both front doors kill the power.

Another stupid question I have is about the dinging that comes from the front driver speaker. Have any of you noticed that it will ding if you turn the car off, leave the keys in the ignition, and open the door, but if you pull the keys out then put them back in without starting the car, it doesn't warn you that they are in the ignition and the door is open. Also, if you leave the turn signal on for too long it will ding, but it is hardly audible.

That's how you turn it off after a remote start. It will also shut down by itself after about ten min. All of this info is covered in great detail in the owner's manual.

Thanks, I knew the part about the 10 minutes, but I guess I missed the part about hitting the button again... I'll take another look.

Another little known feature of the Auto Start is that if you hit the LOCK and START button after it has already been Auto Started it will run for a total of 20 minutes before shutting down.
