Does the LTZ have diff locks or just limited slip? On the Z71 is it push button lockers? Basically you can get this aftermarket suspension? Looks I can see are different but performance wise it's the same....right?

GM's G80 Locking Rear Differential is an automatic locking dif and is the same on all the GMT-900 products, here is a good link for more info about the locker:
http://www.traction.eaton.com/prod6.htm

As far as the Z71 suspension goes it is not an Autoride type like used on the LTZ, it was designed and tuned to provide a very compliant and pleasant ride in both on and off road conditions by utilizing specifically tuned components including springs with different spring rates, high performance shocks and softer bushings, it is very unlikely that this could be duplicated with aftermarket parts.

ZX-

I am not too familiar with gear ratios... I have a 07' Tahoe 4WD with 3.73....What is the difference in performanace with 3.73 to 4.10.

The motors are the same in both the 2007 Yukon and the Tahoe (320hp 5.3L), the difference may lie in the gear ratio's, the 4.10 will accelerate a little brisker than the 3.73 if 4X4’s.
In the 2wd models the 3.73 is speedier than the 3.42

Tire size should have no effect on power but will generally affect economy with the larger sizes getting slightly worse.

However, due to production variances I have noticed that some identically equipped vehicles just run better than others.
I thought I read that larger wheel sizes do affect acceleration as well as braking and handling. I don't mean larger circumference tires, just a larger diameter wheel and thinner tire. Doesn't it take more force to move a wheel with more weight towards the outside peremeter (like 22's, etc) than if the weight is more toward the center (like 17's)? I don't know if it is enough to make a noticeable difference in acceleration, but that might be one of the factors.

I have driven a couple of 07 Z71 proto's, we completed testing on this package in the spring and have had to fine tune just a couple of drivability issues that cropped up, the delay now is in getting the vendors that will supply the Z71 components ramped up and implementing the necessary changes and training on the assembly line, the Z71 option was suppose to roll into production this month but it has been delayed till next month (Sept) by production.

All 2007 Tahoe's will use the 4L60E (4-speed) and then in 2008 will switch over to the 6L80E (6-speed) transmission.

If you remember years ago Z71 was simply an option that you checked off when you built a C/K pick-up truck or K-5 Blazer, later it became an actual trim level package on Tahoe and Silverado, now for 2007 once again the Z71 Off Road package is just an option that is selected when ordering a new Tahoe.

zx1100f1 if i understand this right the 2007 tahoe lt3 do have the 4 speed which i have but your saying that the 2008 tahoe lt3
will come out with a 6 speed my question is that the same 2007 tahoe i just purchased will be the same as the 2008 tahoe lt3 but with the 6 speed tranny the reason im asking is because i love my tahoe very much but i wouldnt mind trading it in for a 6peed 2008
if they come out sometime at the beginning of 2007 in jan, feb, n ??

ZX/DAVE,

What is this 6spd crap? Why so quick? GRRRRR. It makes me so mad when there are drastic engine or tranny changes after the fist year run! What is the reason for the 6spd? The 4spd isnt as effective and efficient? Is it junk? Dam, I cant afford to get the 08 6 spd, BUT I ALREADY WANT IT!

By the way, someone ask what the differnce is between 3:73 and 4:10, that is your gear ration. The 3:73 is a higher gear, better gas mileage. The 4:10 and is lower geared and will have more power, actually it will only FEEL like it has more power. It will shift out of first quicker than the 3:73s, but it will also run higher RPM's while driving down the HWY at 70.

Someone else may add to my poor description. It wasnt very technical, just trying to use the KISS method.
