'08 Suburban Liftgate Motor
The white plastic gear inside my rear power liftgate motor got stripped this last winter while I was trying to open the frozen rear liftgate. I took the motor out from inside the panel. After taking it apart, the gear was definitely stripped. Since you can't buy just the gear, I purchased a complete motor off Ebay. (Half the price of local dealer but still an OEM part!)
I installed the new motor. When I press the button to open the liftgate, it opens about 90% of the way. At that point the motor stops but the door will continue to open on its own because of the two lift cylinders push it up. When I try to close the door, it will start to close but when it reaches the same point where it stopped on the way up, it stops there on the way down.
Does the car's computer need to be programmed to make this new motor stop at the right positions? I took it to my local Chevy dealer and they said thier tech who works on this type of situations was our for 2 weeks on sick leave.
