Question 08 Surbuban going wacko.

Vehicle:
2008 Chevy Suburban 1500 LTZ (Vin J)

O'Reilly Error Check:
u0073 - Control Module Communication Bus A Off
p0700 - Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested MIL Illumination
u0100 - Lost Communication With ECM/PCM

Issue:
Dash indicators going dead- MPH, RPM, etc- dropping to what would be considered the vehicle being off.

Door locks locking rapidly.

Occasional hard shift.

Lights/Warnings:
Engine Light On (Solved: Heard a knocking sound, traced it to a disconnected spark plug wire- reattached it and the knocking is gone and the engine light is off.)
Park Assist Disabled
ABS Light On
Service Stabilitrak
Service Traction Control
Service Tire Monitor System

Known (possible) Cause(s):
ABS Wheel Speed Sensor cable outside rubber rubbed a little and exposes inside wires but no bare electrical wires showing.

Took off the air intake components up to the throttle body. There was a small hose that unplugs from a large plastic piece that has what looks like oil coming out of it- I pressed the butterfly door and looked inside, oil coats the inside.

Owner says that acceleration isn't as responsive as it once was. (hasn't been for some time now.)

I just replaced the spark plugs, here are two images of the ones I removed.

(All eight)

(Closeup of one)

Last night I performed a power drain on the vehicle. Disconnected the battery, turns on as many things as I could and left it like that for a period of time. This morning it seems that all warnings have vanished other then " Service Tire Monitor System" warning which I suspect is that wire that has been rubbed raw.

~ed~ 10/19/13

Warnings are back. Seems there are more now.

Service Four Wheel Drive.

Seems there is a serious issue.
I have read on the forums and seen it could be a simple as a transistor and or battery cables. Taking it to dealer for a diagnostic.

The "service Tire Monitoring System" is either:
A: you haven't configured the tire location yet
or
B: one of the tire sensors has a dead battery. They are wireless and are a part of the air stem to fill the tire. Firestone charges about $50 for them I believe! I had one go dead and now another is coming and going...

The tires have been replaced "aftermarket?" tires and the vehicle has been lifted. When one goes out, does it force all the others to not read? When I check the output all show ---.

Humphrey: welcome to the forum.

Possibly the tire installer either removed and replaced the TPMS or broke them dismounting and remounting the tires.

I bought 4 new TPMS valve stems on eBay recently for about $150.

Hmm. I wonder as to which is true. The owner likes to get tire rotations when the time comes so I am wondering if they are breaking them. This happens to often.
