Default 08 tahoe smells like gas and starts hard

Started to smell gas around the rear drivers idea area. Everything I've read makes me think it's and evap canister or solenoid issue, but no cel on the dash. Also after a couple days of the smell, it started to crank for a signaficantly longer time. After all my asking around and Internet surfing, I'm coming up stumped. Any ideas?

Test fuel pressure. Low pressure could be causing long crank time.

Wouldn't low fuel pressure cause a rough idle as well?

Test with KOEO to see what starting pressure is. Once running at idle, pressure may be normal.

To locate a fuel leak pressurize system KOEO, and check fuel pump/lines/connectors/ injectors for signs.
To locate EVAP leak have a smoke test done.

Hard starting and fuel smell could of course be engine not in good condition.
A diagnostic test of the engine parameters may be in order to rule this out.

My Tahoe just started this. Can you tell me what found out your issue was?

The gas smell on our 2007 sub LTZ turned out to be a rust hole in the top of the fuel pump. Lock ring and pump were a combined rusted mess -took 15 minutes to break it free. Unfortunately have to drop the fuel tank to check that and all of the connectors were difficult. Supply to the engine snapped at the pump and where it connects to the metal line. Evap/rtn to the pump snapped at the pump. Lots of nice youtube vids to help identify all the lines and drop the tank.
