Post 1995 Tahoe Exhaust-Help Please!

I plan on changing out the muffler on my tahoe, the person who had it before me put a 2.5 in. on a 3 in. pipe and welded it....i was thinking just cutting it off just before the muffler, putting a new muffler there and using a tailpipe kit, only thing is...i don't know what kind of muffler to get should it be, and i don't know what stock is, should it be offset in/offset out center in/center out..etc can anyone help me out? I want to be sure these parts will work together with stock muffler-back.

Thanks

so it helps...its a 1995 5.7 gas 4dr 2wheel drive LS

is it a dual in, single out? or single in single out etc. any muffler should fit as lon as the inlets match the pipes comin from the headers, if your gonna buy new pipe to come out the rear. You should be fine with a 50 series flowmaster on a tahoe, or glasspacks, not a big fan of magnaflow though. lots of drone though w the flowmaster. also, a lot depends on what kind of sound you like
