Default 1997 Tahoe has Check engine light a highspeed

My 97 Tahoe at speeds above 90mph The sevice engine light starts to blink, which I know is a class A missfire, then my cruse quits working for about 10 miles. I have no idea what is going on. Any ideas???

I believe the speed is governed at about 95 to 98mph I know my 97 Tahoe with the 5.7 would shut down around that speed until the speed dropped below 90...
I don't recall the check engine light coming on thou, but then again at that speed in a 5000lbs vehicle I may have had my eyes on the road..
My 07 does it around 98-101mph

my only question is..why the hell do u need to go 90? lol...my trucks fuel cutoff is at 98....
