Default 1999 chevy suburban broken ground strap

1999 chevy k1500 suburban LT gas 5.7 I was looking under the hood and notice that there was a broken ground strap from the engine to the fire wall with 2 straps one of them is broken and there very corroded and brital I was wondering if I can remove them and replace them with 0 gauge wire or what gauge should I use
My fuel gauge has been acting weird shaking not reading well ECT I checked rear gas tank ground it was fine so what does this broken strap do or control please help me

The '90's GM trucks had multiple ground straps and over time they fail. The primary problem isn't with broken wires, it's connector ends that get corroded and no longer conduct. Take a careful look around the engine, I think you may find a few more grounds closer to the firewall or heading toward the fenders.

The only one you need to use large cable on is the battery ground, up-sizing that is a good idea, any others should be OK with wire or ground strap similar to the original. The key is to really carefully clean the contact areas and bolts to insure good contact.
