Default 1999 tahoe no spark no fuel pump prime

hi, i turn the key on and nothing happens. no priming of the fuel pump. i plugged in my scanner to see if i can find any codes.. i cant,, it tells me it is unavailable to access any information. come to find out i have a short somewhere,, i keep blowing the ecm1 fuse as soon as i turn the key on. any info on how to locate the short ? i took the computer out thinking it was the problem and when i did, it still blows out the ecm1 fuse... please help

there is your problem. You re going to have to fault-trace what wires from the ECM that are pinched somewhere. You not in the dark totally, it has to be some wire that gets power when you turn the ignition switch. And also something that puts out a high enough current to blow the fuse repeatedly. You ll need a test light in the place where the fuse keeps blowing and I would pull every other fuse one at a time as I turn the switch. This will isolate what else on that same fuse panel may be drawing current which is overloading the ECM circuit.

I had a similar problem in my '87 IROC. Turned out that two of the several wires going into the MAP relay had shorted together due to the recession of the insulation which exposed the conductors. Tough to find cuz it was intermittent.
