1999 Suburban Encoder Motor Problem
Hello Everyone Greetings from a very cold South Dakota.
I am trying to fit a 'new' remanufactured encoder motor and because the lights on the new dash switch only flash and then go off when the key is turned on, I am not sure where 2Hi is and whether the new encoder motor is in 2Hi. I cannot fit the encoder to the side of the transfer case and locate it into the transfer case selector shaft spigot. It seems to out by only a few degrees, but no room to rotate it to slide into the recess, which only has two flat sides on it. The encoder motor does not move when the six pin and four pin plugs are connected and the key turned on and dash buttons selected. The fuse is OK. I have removed the indent spring and plunger on the bottom of the transfer case and still nothing. I have rotated the rear wheel drive shaft and rear wheel and still no selector movement. I can move the transfer case spigot one position and nothing else. Any suggestions please? I have just brought the vehicle and feel I may have an internal transfer case issue? Could it be an alignment issue with the 'new' remanufactured encoder motor? Thank you Harry
