Default 1st post, question about wheels

I recently bought a 2001 white tahoe z71 and am looking into getting rims for it. I'm going to get 24" rims, probably chrome atm, and have read all about offsets and everything. My question is, what is a good brand name to look for? I understand that there are overpriced brands and low quality brands to stay away from but i can't seem to find which are which. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to which brands to look for and which to stay away from, that would be great. I'm all open to anyones opinions on what kinds look good and which dont as well.

And im all ears if anyone has any general advice about buying wheels as i have never bought them before. I only know what i've read here and other sites.

On a seperate note, i love the forum and have been reading about all kinds of modifications and stuff that im looking into getting done. AFAIK this is the best forum to exchange ideas about tahoes. Keep up the great work

I would think that any place that sells tires would carry decent rims, look for reputable names. I would be careful with any custom shops as that is where you might be more likely to get sub-par rims, don’t get me wrong custom shops are a great place for all kinds of things but they are also less likely to be around come warranty time then a chain, I have seen custom shops come and go. If the shop selling rims has been around for a few years there probably selling decent stuff. that’s my line of thinking. (I still have my factory 20in rolling stock)

Im not in a major city or anything. In fact, its at least an hours drive to any city that might have custom shops and such. I automatically ruled out chains like autozone and advanced auto because im assuming they are ridiculously overpriced like alot of the aftermarket products they carry. I was pretty much looking into online shops like tirerack.com and such. I have an idea what the rims i want look like, but im afraid to buy a bad brand name that might bubble or something like that.

Yeah I hear you about the auto chains, I was thinking more like discount tire, NTB places that specialize in tires and wheels. As for on-line I have never purchased over the web but I am sure there is someone on this forum that has and can give good feedback. Im sure you would get good stuff from places like Summit racing and the like..

Aluminum mag rims is also a nice option. I've also seen my neighboor's rims and it is an American Racing Chrome and its pretty cool. Rim choices will also depend on your budget but I sure as hell that you only want the best for your Chevy Tahoe.
