Help I have a 1991 2 Wheel Sub that was given to my 18 year old son we live in Colorado the car is in excellent condition.
We are trying to figure out should we sell it and try to get a different car but it will not get more then about 1500 and a 4x4 would cost additional 3K plus just wondering if any one has exp driving a 2 wheel drive sub in the snow with studs and snow tires

Common sense has a great deal more to do with it, than the applicability of 4WD, Studs or Tires. Learning to drive isn't enough, it's the when and how.

Just as a followup on my previous post...
I think that 91 Burb would be a great ride for your kid.
He can play around with studs and treads, find out how to operate a vehicle safely and "dependably" in/on snow and ice, and lean how to get wherever AND and back home on his own.
One real good thing about Burbs is, that there's plenty of room for...

I have a 05 Suburban K1500 5.3 and a 97 Ram 2500 V10 2WD. I wish the Ram was 4WD, not so much because of snow, but because of reversing trailers up-hill. But it was cheap.

i live in wi also i have had 5 2wd suburbans they are great in the snow they weigh almost 6k# anything that heavy w decent tires will go great in snow it will def be better than a mini van
i only use 4wd now if im pulling a stuck idiot in a 4x4
if u live in milwaukee u have seen my 2wd tahoe lifted 8 inw 36 in tires everyone called it stupid when they realized it was lifted it cost like 800 to lift the 2wd and like 3000 to lift a 4x4 plus double the $ for the truck the get better mpg less shyt to break and u maybee would like a 4x4 1 time everyother year y buy a 4x4 if u find a deal on a 2 wheeler
