Its probably the Blower Motor Resistor. On my silverado and on a ponitac grand am i used to own, the ac controls would only work on 5, the highest setting. When I replaced the resistor, normally near or on the airbox or blower motor, it worked for me both times. since the rear ac uses a seperate blower motor in the back, I would suggest look at that. both times, the blower motor resistor was under 20.00 at Autozone. Hope this helps

Anyone know where the rear ac blower motor resistor is located and how to access it?

If we knew what system we are trying to diagnose it would be easier to give you good advice.

Manual or automatic? they are 2 totaly different units with 2 totally different controls

The transmission is automatic. The rear ac control is manual. Is that the infromation you are looking for?

I'm battling a similar issue with an 05 rear blower motor. It works sometimes and also stays on when the truck shuts off sometimes. The rear blower motor is behind the passenger trunk panel over the wheel well. Just pop off the bottom and top plastic with a screwdriver on the rear hatch, then the upper pass plastic with a small speaker grille, then the big plastic piece across the wheel well pulls back. You have to unclip the harness to the speaker and maybe a cig/auxillary jack. The blower motor has a 2 pin harness plug coming from a resistor that receives a 3 pin harness. I couldn't find the resistor at oreiley's, advanced, or autozone but you can google AC Delco part #15-80594 for a replacement, that is if its the same configuration.

I'm having a similar issue on my '01 Suburban. It only blows on fan level 1, but I also can't get it to change the temperature... it always blows cold. Could this resistor be my problem as well?

Welcome to the forum.

I doubt it as the high-speed bypasses the blower speed resistors and goes directly to 12 volts. So if you're high speed doesn't work, then I doubt that you have a resistor problem.
