Default 2001 Suburban 2500 - Rear door speakers?

What are they? 5x7 or 4x6?

Also...does anyone know how to put 6.5 or other speakers in there?

I took the panel off - thinking the ROUND port would fit 6.5's....wrong!

They are rectangular speakers.

Anyone know of adpaters - I don't have time to get into making one.

thanks!

Check crutchfield, they will have all the adapters and speakers sizes for your vehicle. They can also recommend what will fit and substitute :-)

Not all the time.

I this case they recommend 6.5s...but I have OVAL speakers in place.

Even the adpater they have (which is really for a space that's already round)....that wouldn't work without me cutting or replacing somehting in the door.

The rear speaker is mounted on an odd plastic support attached to the rear door.

I hoped that someone may have seen this before.

I'll try to snap a photo.

Ok...off to a local Best Buy to sizes things up.

Picked up a set of 4x6 Polk's and installed them yesterday.

Not bad for the $$.

Yes - these mounts and speakers are 4 x 6.

I'll likely have to look at a newer model (or a 1500?) to see if they have a mounting bracket to fit 6.5's.

Now to look into a ROAD TRIP!

thanks for the assistance.
