My new to me 2001 suburban has a problem with the drivers door and passenger door.the exterior handles open the car but they do not retract when you pull them to open
Do you have to take the whole door apart and can the handle be fixed without buying a new one
If I have to buy new do I have to have it painted to match the suburban.thanks jimbo

 

You have to remove the inside door panels to gain access. The springs are probably broken. You will have to paint them if you want them the same color or you can buy black ones and leave them black or buy chrome ones.
