I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban 4x4 with right at 70,000 miles on it. Today the wife calls and says the truck wont go into reverse. I get home and see the the truck will not engage into reverse I take it for a short test drive and find that it works good all but 2nd gear. First gears revs lots longer then normal and then it goes straight to 3rd gear, I believe that I have 4th (Overdrive) as well.

So in closeing what would cause 2nd and reverse not to work but other items working normally.

I have check the fluid and it was at the correct level and did not smell anything like a burnt smell at all.

I'm hoping that is a shifting solenoid or something that is pretty easy...

Please let me know what you might think that it might be.

 

is the check engine light on?

if so get a scan tool and read me the codes if you dont have 1 auto zone or some other part store will scan for free
