Ok out shopping for a replacement for the 01 ls we had to sell off. I've decided I prefer the z71 package, so I've been shopping them.

Was looking at a 04z71 Tahoe at my brothers work, but they were stupid on the financing, so I went back to the place I got my old pickup from and they've got a 02 burban z71, missing the 3rd row (I think I'd be able find fairly cheap) 188k, what concerns me is 2 things. When I put it in 4wd, there is a whine in the left front, and the rear diff seems to lock. I know they are supposed to have the g80 in them that will lock when 1 wheel outspeeds the other, but this is instantaneous. Bucks to beat all hell. Take it out of 4wd and it behaves as a open diff.

I don't believe there is an aftermarket locker in it but I haven't been under it yet.

Thoughts? I haven't dealt with the 4x4's much, but know the transfer cases are a weak link. The way the diff is behaving baffles me.

They also have a 04 z71 tahoe, with just over 180k, but doesn't have the 3rd row and didn't appear to have the latches for the 3rd row and doesn't have my mid life crisis required sunroof. Lol
