Default 2003 Suburban - Cluster

The speedometor on our Suburban has gone NUTS!! It has actually been nuts for months now but we are getting tired of not knowing how fast we are going. Does anyone know if there is a recall on 03' Suburbans for the cluster? We were told by a mechanic (not the dealer) that we will have to buy a new one or an used one, so the miles on the odometor is going to change. We currently have around 160K.
What are our options? Can it no be fixed? It has to be replaced?

Replacement of the cluster is a possible fix, however the stepper motor for the speedo is probably the problem, the replacement motor can be found on EBay and probably Amazon...
If you search the forum you will find many helpful post on the subject as well as some how to's

The "needle" whatever you call it LOL, does move, but when you turn the ingine off or stop at a traffic light, instead on being on the left side, it goes down to the right side. It is backwards.

Now if you choose to do your own repair, please do follow up with how it worked out good or bad, you may save someone else some headaches
