Default 2003 Suburban Hood Insulation

Hello All

The first layer (thin fabric) of the hood insulation pad is deteriorating. It is coming off the pad and falling apart. Is there an option of covering the existing pad or will the entire pad need to be replaced. I can not find any products to install over the existing pad. Of course replacement pads run the range from cheap to expensive. About $300.00 for OEM. Thanks for any info.

You might be able to make your own insulation pad if need be or use the cheap ones, then secure it with some 3-M adhesive. $300 bucks is indeed a bit much for this part.

Especially with the age of your vehicle...

You can always look at various aftermarket options through different companies to help lower the price. Also, if you have the time, take a walk through your local salvage yard. You will probably find plenty completely wasted. But there’s a good chance you may come across a pad in decent shape. I couldn’t see a yard charging more then $10-$20 when you remove it yourself. Good luck!!
