I have a 2004 2500 6.0L Burb with 100,000 miles I tow a 7000LB Travel Trailer with it. A few weeks ago the Burb cut off on a slight uphill while towing the camper home after a trouble free six hour drive. I was able to crank it right back up and drive it the fifty miles on home. I have not had this problem again as yet but have not towed again either. Someone told me that a dirty fuel filter will cause this under strain. I tried to have the fuel filter changed at the local oil change shop but they couldn't locate it. They said it may be in or on top of the fuel tank. Does anyone know where it would be on this model with this engine? Thanks.

 

There is no serviceable fuel filter on your truck.

 

Thanks MDTAHOE, I knew on the 2005 models there was supposed to be a built in for the life of the vehicle fuel filter. Does this filter not get dirty? I will be scheduling a 100,000 mile maintenance soon so hopefully the real issue will be corrected.

 

Never had to replace a in the tank. filter on any vehicle that had one. They are part of the fuel pump. I have replaced tons of fuel pumps on GM trucks any where from 80,000 and on.
