Default 2004 Tahoe windshield wipers not working right

Only had this 2004 Tahoe barely 2 months but had had a number of electrical issues, some already fixed. It's LT, 5.3 liter, 4x4, with approx. 164,000 miles.
Trying to figure out why two days ago the wipers come on and stay on until the engine is shut off. Sometimes the wipers stop for five minutes then start up again while driving, without touching anything! The level on the turn signal has the intermittent feature but that does not work anymore even to turn them off!
The wipers swipe just fine and continue to squirt when the upper tab is pushed but cannot make the wipers turn off or go into intermittent mode.
Today, I bought a new wiper relay, installed it but nothing changed! Really thought that was going to fix it 😞
So, anyone have any ideas what the problem can be? I'm a 62 year old woman who just had a hip replacement surgery two weeks ago, so doing anything more complicated is going to be done by a mechanic and I'd like to go to the shop knowing more as they love to snow us women!
Thanks for reading and hopefully having some suggestions.

I had a problem like this years ago with my Blazer. It turns out it was the park switch in the wiper motor that was bad and not opening when the wipers got to the park position. I ended up getting a replacement wiper motor from a pick-n-pull which solved my problem.
