Talking 2005 Transfer case DIY, what else

I just got a 2005 3/4 ton Burb with almost 200k on the clock and it is in need of a new transfer case. While I am down there, what else should I check out or just replace.

I plan to tow a camper with the family and want to make sure I cover my bases while I am down there. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I always recommend the use of dielectric grease, 4WD or not. Keeps water and corrosion out, which can happen on any vehicle. Makes pushing the connector in easier too, just don't apply too much.Sorry to hear about your transfer case.In that I'd regard I would definitely go synthetic. I use Royal Purple, but any good synthetic gear lubricant recommended for your unit will do well.

check both driveshaft u-joints while the shafts are out. move each joint thru its range of motion....replace any that feel rough or tight.

Indeed so. Might as well get it all done at once.
