I recently upgraded my 2006 z71 brakes to the 12" rotors with new calipers. My local mechanic did the job easily with aftermarket parts. The difference in stopping power is very noticeable and I recommend this upgrade to all. Last year I also did a performance tune and the increase in performance is great. No throttle lag and lots of pep when I step on it and downshift, let's say to pull onto a busy freeway. Mileage is about the same.

When changing the brakes my mechanic found the source of an annoying rattle in the front end. Turns out is was the steering knuckle. Had that replaced and steering is now quiet and firm. Apparently this part does wear and should be replaced.
