2007 door handles turning into razor blades
got our Tahoe back yesterday - $0 to replace all 4 handles. the design seems to be the same. The seam is still on the top for no good reason but it is VERY smooth and you cannot tell unless you look real close.
overall I am very happy with my dealership in McKinney TX if anyone is close and needs help

The problem wasn't that the seam was on top (also the bottom) but that the seams (which are actually mold parting lines) didn't have the mold flash removed prior to plating. The metal plating on top of the thin plastic flash made a perfect cutting edge.
One of the problems w/ beating your suppliers down on price.

interesting didn't know that was the real reason, I thought it was just the seam coming loose and raising some (like ours were doing).
but yes it is amazing that car companies will try to save 1 penny on a few parts but when they have to recal/fix 1000s of them it costs them more down the line.
"haste makes waste" what my momma always says

My wife got a terrible cut on her hand when opening the front passenger door in my 2008 Suburban - same issue as all the others - the chrome has started to peel back, exposing a very sharp edge that cuts the heck out of your finger when you open the door. Guess I'll call customer service, but they'd better not try to tell me that 2008s aren't covered - the blood from a defective and dangerous 2008 is just as red as a 2007 even if the NHTSA didn't require a formal recall.
