Not sure you can. Does it go off even if you don't open the driver's door and kill the Retained Electrical Power?

I have the same question my 2007 LTZ does the same thing.
If the kids are watching the DVD I stop for gas or something turn the car off and open the drivers door the DVD turns off, that i understand but when I restart I have sound where it left off, but a blank screen. The only way to get the screen back is to eject the DVD and start over.

I asked the dealer and they said that is just the way it is.

You should be able to just turn it back on w/ the remote and it'll start where it left off.

can you just leave the ACC or whatever it is called on so the DVD does not stop playing? this would only help if you have to get gas or something else short like that. Pretty dumb that it would not pickup where it left off like any other CD/DVD player

Probably but mine gives me a "Low battery, start engine" and shuts everything down.

If it doesn't start where it left off, then I think something is wrong w/ it.

I am able to control mine from the radio, thou I know the kids have the remote in the back seat with them. I will try and check it out tomorrow morning and let you know what I can and can't do without the remote and how mine responds to start cycles, we have watched DVD's and it seems that it starts right up where they left off after a fill up or after a engine start would be more accurate as I leave the key in accessory when they are watching a movie and I am filling up.
