actually now that I think of it mine is the same. For example we used it last summer and when we stopped at Sonic, it kept playing when I turned the truck off. Just like the radio does. It also did not cycle back to the 1st of the movie when we left.
we do not have a remote either. I use the buttons on the navigation screen to start/stop the movie.
Maybe the key is to not press Stop before turning the truck off and leaving.

Upon re start my Rear screen has sound but no picture my front dash screen plays from where I left off with both sound and picture. My dealer told me the rear screen should mimick everything the front does. This is not true in my case and nobody knows why.
Drives my kids nutz having to start movies over every time we stop. Oh'well I never had a DVD in a car as a kid so I guesse we will just deal with it.

I wonder if the screen is just not waking up, I could speculate on a poor video connection but how to access and inspect and seat those connections could be a bit time consuming...
Yeah our entertainment as kids was who go to lay in the rear window shelf of my dads 70's Mercury Marquis, it was like having your own room in the car....
