Default 2007 Nav always on?

Just traded an non-nav 2007 Tahoe for a 2007 Yukon Denali with nav and noticed that the unit is making noises even after the key is removed. I can't tell if it's a fan or the motor that moves the read head. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Worry not, the head unit spins up as soon as you open a door and takes awhile to stop after you shut the beast down. If you're concerned, stay in the vehicle, turn it off, and lock the doors w/ the remote and see if it does indeed stop after awhile.

yep...exactly as shark said....if you want to stop the noise, remove the map dvd, but beware, that dvd is worth about $200...don't scratch it

Default Tahoe Nav

Genius design really... the car is OFF... so it's reading the DVD... because.... it gets lonely? it gets bored? it wants to run down your battery? it likes to make noise?

Is there a legit GM reason for reading / spinning the disc while the vehicle is OFF?

its prepared to load the maps and produce chimes at a moments notice

And it only loads the dvd for 2mins after the vehicle is shut down(once it goes to sleep), and starts to load the disc when you press the unlock button on the fob.
