Default Quick question

I am adjusting the valves and have found T.D.C, my question is on the distributor should the contact be at striking point with cylinder 1 or will it be just off between 1 and 8?

What year? What size engine? Why are you adjusting the valves?

Default year,engine, and reason

i replaced all gaskets and seals on a 99 tahoe, 5.7 4x4. a learning experience but i am not a 100% certain i am understanding the hayns manual
