Mike
ugh!!.. Just spoke to classic chevrolet in Sugarland TX.. And this dude told me he is aware of the recall on door handles,, And He spoke about it because he felt i qualified.. Then after giving my vin, he tells me , my truck doesnt qualify for the incentive.. He checked it about 5 times and said, my vin doesnt qualify... Like its my certain type of truck. I asked, maybe its all flex fuels, he said, NOPE, He doesnt understand why my truck doesnt show for being qualified, And if i wanted to get it fixed, Its 300$ before tax to fix it... WOW!!!!!..
SURPRISE!!! I'm back for another round. Started posting on page 9/10...long ago.
Last weekend, my replacement dash started to crack by the psgr airbag...like the last one. Was around March, 2011, when it was 1st replaced by Chev. Lasted just over 24 months and the ordeal starts again. Last time (if my memory is any good), it cost me around $300 and 2 years of fighting with Chevrolet.
I'm feeling lucky this time around, maybe they'll charge me only $200 this time, with a promise of the one after that being free!!
Guess I was foolish thinking the replacement would last any longer than the original. What kind of replacement parts did GM give me?!?

I have a 08 Tahoe with 3 cracks on dash. They are in the same places has everybody else on here, one by airbag and two on hump infront on the steering wheel. Contacted GM Customer Care and was told to take it to the dealership for them to look at. When I got to the service department they asked what was the problem. I told them my dash was cracked. They asked my name because they had a list of four customers bring vehicles by that day for them to look at cracked dashes.
They took my information and told me it would cost me $400.00 to replace. I told them GM Customer Care sent me by there and they told me $400.00 would be my part.
If the dash was made right to start with it would not have cracked. GM has added re-enforcements exactly where the cracks are on the replacement dashes.

71frank Welcome to the forum...
Sorry your first intro to the forum had to be about the cracked dash
However I have been provided some insider info on how they decide who pays what on the cracked dash replacements!
Apparently GM corporate is providing this precise calculation tool to all the dealerships.... I can't mention it by name so as to avoid being found by search engines, but attached is a picture of the tool(s) and the algorithm used....
