Default 2007 Tahoe Oil Gauge issue

I have a 2007 Tahoe LT with 5.3 FFV. I started it earlier and the check engine light came on and oil gauge at 0. Gauge will not move off zero. Engine oil is full and there is no rattle or knocks. I drove it bout 20 min to the house. I ran OBD code. P0523. Also there is no other light or warning being displayed. Bad sending unit? Be alright to drive to part store?
****update****
Bought a $65 Borg Warner sending unit and my local mechanic shop put it on in 30 min for $40. Works as it should now.

Welcome to the forum...
If you are not hearing any knocking I too would suspect a bad sending unit and or a blocked screen...
Use the forum search feature for oil pressure and you will find the threats about replacing the sensor and the blocked screen issue....
Do you use regular oil or synthetic?
Change your oil pretty regularly?
