I see this thread has been going for some time. I found it thru google. Figured I'd post up what I've had done to my 07 Tahoe since buying it brand new in 2007. First my local Chevy dealership by the house and the one down by work are awesome. They have always found replaced anything I've brought it in for. Now back to what has been fixed since buying brand new.

1. LED on Heated Seats went out on the Drivers Side
2. Key-less Entry Module and Key fobs replaced
3. Tire Monitor system replaced.
4. Rear-Axle Bearings replaced
5. Thermostat Replaced
6. Transmission Replaced

This is all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll have to pull out the paperwork to see what else has been done. You'd think spending over 40k you won't have to take it in all the time. But I guess its all been covered so I can't complain too much.

Default Check Engine Light 2007 Tahoe

I have a Check Engine Light on and was told by Chevy dealer to replace the gas cap. The reason is that every time I fuel up it would display ----- on the Fuel Range then it will come back to normal.

So I replaced it with a locking one from the auto parts store, and it's gotten worse. Took it to a general mechanic and said that cap was crap and to get it directly from the dealer. He did a diagnostic and said I had a vapor leak and reseted the display and the check engine light came off. Then the next day it came back.

Have you had any of these issues? and what do you guys think can it really be the gas cap or something worse?

Thanks in advance!

If you still get the check engine with a new Chevy gas cap, then you probably have a problem w/ the evap. emission system. There's a solenoid back by the tank that could be bad. What DTCs are you getting?

Brand new to this forum. Lots of good info.
I bought my 2007 Suburban 1 1/2 years ago with 23,000 miles on it. It now has 50,000 miles.

Here is a list of problems i have had with it.

Driver side mirror vibrating...Had it in twice for this. They adjusted it the first time which lasted about a week before it started again. Second time they told me there was no problem with the mirror, the vibrating was caused by the tires, said they were out of balance, which was causing the vibation. I had new tires put on about 2 weeks earlier so I know that was b.s.

Rear hatch glass wind noise while pulling my enclosed trailer...In twice for this. first time they replaced the gasket, second time they replaced the glass..still makes noise. I have to tape the glass down while pulling my trailer.

Battery problems.... I have gone through 2 batterys. One was replaced under warranty. the second one died about a week ago. I have to leave the interior lights turned off because the battery drains if left on too long.

Alternator...Charging seems to be very eratic. Times it will be above 14 volts then times it will drop down to 12- 13 volts. I expressed my concerns when I took it in for the battery and they told me it was normal. I have checked it with my voltmeter when it at its lowest and it is only putting out 12.5 volts.

Fuel pump module was replaced under warranty.

Brake rotors are warped.... Started about 6 months ago, but are now bad enough to need replacing.

Gas milelage has dropped since I bought it.

The battery ordeal is the most frustrating, you never know when its going to leave you stranded.

I bought my 07 Suburban a year ago with 40,000mi and know have 54,000mi with no problems.

I learned with my 93 Suburban you can't leave the doors open for hours, there's a lot of lights that come on.

07 Tahoe LT3 with 48k miles we have had for a few months. it looks like the original battery. it has died 3 times so far, once at the car wash after they finished cleaning out the inside. I have never had a vehicle kill a battery like this. we have learned to keep the dome lights turned off when the doors are open if possible and we have not had a problem since.
I still plan on getting the biggest badest battery possible and hope I can actually keep the doors open and radio on for more than 5 minutes w/o worrying the hole time that the Tahoe won't start...
other than that we LOVE nearly everything about it and the price we got it for

oh and BillyB the various alternator/voltage readings are normal. unlike "normal" cars the alternator is not charging full time, ohly when the computer thinks it needs to. so if you are showing a low voltage when driving then turn the engine off and leave the doors open your battery is very vulnerable to run down fast because it is not fully charged.

Welcome to the forum.

As others have stated, don't replace rotors w/ GM parts unless it's a warranty repair.

Re: battery Make sure that the SW update that addresses this problem has been accomplished.

Just because the tires were just put on doesn't mean that the balance is good. I'd get 'em checked.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I will check to see if the update was done the last time I had it in for the battery. I have learned to live with the mirror vibration. I have found that when it starts vibrating I can readjust the mirror and it will quit for a while.
