Default 2007 Tahoe vs my 1995 Tahoe

I want a 2007+ Black, Tahoe LTZ like no one's business... however all the horror stories are killing it for me, i mean, my god look at the TSBs for the 07! I can't even count that high the '95 I have had like 12! and most of them meaningless!

is it because its a first year or what's going on? should I just wait for the economy to bottom out and get a 2008? Either one I would have to buy used, the 07 LTZs used are finally around $30,000... so I assume in 12 months the 08s will be too...

the thin hood also scares me, my hood, doors and roof are all 'real metal' something seriously lacking in all new cars (have you seen the new Wrangler, my god, its 1/2 plastic)...

but $55,000 for a vehicle for SO many recalls and TSBs...

I would love a Lexus SUV, that cool one, the RX450 or what not, but it can't pull enough; nor does it give me that king of the road feeling my Tahoe does... but being a Toyota, it would run forever, and its resale would not be 1/2 what you paid for it in 1 year... :-/

Have all manufactures gone for cheap to turn a profit, thus lowering quality, and eventually the bottom line when people stop buying these products?

Being a new revamped Tahoe, there are bound to be minor issues that arise. Keep in mind that the posts here are of course all going to relate to issues as this is mostly a help forum. Like myself, there are thousands of Tahoe owners that love their new 07 Tahoe. I myself had an 2003 and traded it in once I took the new one for a ride. Nothing can describe the night and day difference between the old style and new. I myself couldn't be any happier with my hoe and can't wait til my lease runs out so that I can upgrade my LTto an LTZ (should have done that from the beginning).

We understand if you can't afford a new Tahoe, it's nothing to be ashamed about.

That's not my issue; I'm just trying to justify the obvious expense; but thinking I should lean more to the 2008 when they work some of the bugs out...

so your saying that most 07's work fine, its just that since we only read about the broken ones, we only get 1/2 the story?

I fix HP Plasma / LCD TVs and I only see the broken ones (no one invites me over at $130/hr to watch the super bowl, lol)

I have a 2007 Tahoe Z71 and no real problems. This truck is great. I traded in my Infinit QX4 with off-road mods, and have not looked back.

Yeah Lexus vehicles are nice, but they have their fair share of problems (check out their forums). Toyota is having a few issues with the new V-8s (Tundras)and FJs. A couple of friends had the LX SUV and they both had reoccuring problems with the brakes and autolevel suspension. As others have said, the forums are a great resource for troubleshooting or modifications - lots of threads for issues. The RX reminds me of rounded minivan or a cute ute... And yes, it is hard to beat the resale value of a Toyota.

Yea my G/F was looking for a RAV4, which is 28 MPG, and 269 HP V6! And its pretty big! But it is IMPOSSIBLE to finda used rav4! NO ONE gives them up, new they are $30k, an used they are $28k... so its not a real hard choice to get a brand new one at that price, is it?

She ended up w/a Mazda Tribute (AKA Ford Escape w/longer warrenty, and loaner car if it breaks!) they are the SAME price as a new rav-4 but they drop in value like the Tahoe...
she got it for $14 or 15, I don't recall...

Ok, I still owe money on my other play toy (my jeep), so I think that unless my main tahoe dies... I'm still gonna wait for the 08, its just better all around, I don't want to wait, I want a new Tahoe now, but that would mean that I couldn't stash $600/ month for my retirement... and since I'm only 25, that means I would loose tons more by not waiting... ugh, why do I have to think about every financial move 100,000 times? If I was more impulsive I would have a LTZ right now!
