Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Post 2008 Suburban LTZ

Just bought this truck and really like it for the most part. It just crossed 81000 miles and seems to have no major issues. A few things do concern me though. I have noted over the past week that on startups after several hours sitting, it gives off a shot of purple smoke. Only for the first second and then immediately clears up. Oil levels seems fine so I am confused. Also, the intermittent wipers only have one speed selection which is a really long delay. Slow and fast speed seem to be ok but no matter where I select the delay for intermittent I get only the one delay choice. I know these trucks need new wheel bearings about 70,000-100,000 miles, I suspect that this one does too but it is not the typical hum of a bad bearing, it is more of a rhythmic thumping that is faint and most notable when decelerating and cornering to the right.
If anyone has and insight or any other issues I might want to be made aware of it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello, I'm new here too, and also just bought a used Burb ( 2007) to replace the 2005 that just got wrecked in an accident.
First thought about the "thumping" was a CV joint? Are the boots in good shape? Not split etc..?
