Default 2008 Suburban OEM Navigation

Hello,

I own a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban and wanted to make a few modifications to the dash board. More specifically I wanted to replace the standard radio/CD player and add the OEM (or something similar) satellite navigation system. I was told that an advantage of putting in an OEM satellite navigation system in is that the vehicle will hold its re-sell value better than if I were to put an aftermarket system (Something you bought at Best Buy). Also, I figure the GMC navigation system would look better because when they designed the inside they designed the satellite navigation system to work with the design.

I called my local Chevrolet dealership and asked how much it would cost to install the OEM Navigation system and rear camera. They told me it would cost $3,600 out the door. I thought at most it would cost a thousand. Now that I am aware of the cost and I know that having the dealership install the system is out of the question, I decided to look for guides on how to do it yourself. Looking on Google I found this form and saw the sticky thread on “How to install OEM Nav on 2007 Tahoe” and I had a couple of questions about the post, as well as some additional questions.

1. Are the 08’ model and 07 model of Tahoe (Suburban) the same when it comes to pulling apart the dash? I know they look the same on the outside.

2. The forum lists different part numbers for the various pieces of equipment you will need, does those same part numbers apply for my 2008 Suburban?

3. What website(s) would you recommend I look at to purchase OEM equipment for my 2008 Suburban?

4. Are there any aftermarket systems you might have come across that fit well with the design for a 07-08 model year?

5. How can I tell if my Suburban is equipped with the “little black box” that would indicate my vehicle is pre-wired for the rear backup camera?

Additional Information: The Suburban is an LT3 equipped with a rear back-up sensor, Bose audio (other stuff but not really relevant I don’t think).

Thanks for the time,
Sam

For the most part yes they are identical

Probably not , they may be the same but for year model identifier the numbers may change

3. What website(s) would you recommend I look at to purchase OEM equipment for my 2008 Suburban? Ebay

4. Are there any aftermarket systems you might have come across that fit well with the design for a 07-08 model year? Its all a mater of personal opinion

Might try pulling the rear panel from the gate to see if there is any wiring

Additional Information: The Suburban is an LT3 equipped with a rear back-up sensor, Bose audio (other stuff but not really relevant I don’t think).

$ 3600 bucks for OEM nav. Installed? Thank goodness for aftermarket systems from Best Buy!
