Default 2008 Suburban - Somethings running???

I need some help with my 2008 Suburban. We just recently got it and there seems to be something always running in the front entertainment center. Sometimes when you get in the car I sounds like the radio is trying to load a CD or DVD although there is no disk in the unit. This occurs even without the key in or the car turned on or running. After the loading sound stops something seems to be continuously running in the dashboard. At first I thought it was a fan but now I'm not so sure, it may just be the radio/entertainment center. Any ideas???

One of the Techs from another site gave me a heads up that the Nav Radio/CD/DVD typically runs for 3 to 4 minutes after the key is removed. I tested it by parking the vehicle with the window open and removed the key. After about 10 minutes i stuck my head in the window and there was no noise coming from the player....Saved me a trip back to the dealer...

Autoride suspension will be heard on NBS Suburbans and Tahoes. Makes a whining sound as the suspension adjusts ride height. There is a Service Bulletin that defines where the noise can be heard, there is not a remedy suggested.

That's the compressor running.

To eliminate the Nav DVD, try removing it and then check for the noise.

Mine does the same thing, sometimes when I get in before I insert the key, I hear something running, like the DVD. Weird, also I hear something coming from under the back of vehicle right after start up, like a pump running or something.

The first is the Nav DVD spinning up and the second is the Autoride compressor assuming you have both.

the NAV DVD is a new GM feature designed to wear out your battery faster, thus providing your local dealer with additional revenue. This design came about when GM realized it couldn't make a profit selling just cars of poor quality. they decided they needed the ability to really reach out and rape your wallet on a more consistent basis.

Yes, its' the 60 year old designed NAV system, and it's normal.

I put an optima Yellow Top in mine, and can now listen to the radio for hours without issue. I went through 3 stock batteries under warranty before making the switch.
