Thanks "badohtentahoe " for the response.
That gives me additional confidence that the struts are the problem!
Is there a safer way to remove these? (removing the top or bottom first?)<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: postbit_onlinestatus -->

use a 2x4 to prop the door open or have a helper and remove them one at a time... I would suggest the bottom first in case the hatch comes down the strut will act as a stop somewhere on the bumper rather then the top of the rod going thru the glass should the hatch fall while in the removal process....

Any ideas on where to purchase them. I've tried Autozone, Napa,Oreilly.
None have these on their list of parts. Only the dealership has them and they are 50.00 each !
