Default Ordered the camera kit....

I called the dealership and asked for the correct Camera kit upgrade part # for the Suburban 2009... Part# 19170227. I ordered it from GMPartsDirect.com It's a special order item so not sure when it will arrive. I'm not quite sure whats included in the kit. It says camera but I think it may also come with the required connections to upgrade the vehicle. I will report back when I receive it.

I've been told that in order to get all the wire harnesses and the camera unit and the camera module (fits under passenger seat and flips the video image) in order to install the rear assist camera, the cost is in the neighborhood of $1200 and more than one part number...

Default VisorView.com

You can go to www.visorview.com and find lots of aftermarket options. They also have the OEM GM mirror with the video screen and On-Star buttons for $479. The cameras can be purchased seperately or as a package with a smaller screen.

I was quoted $1,000 from the local dealership for a OEM install. You can buy a package from VV for $379, see FlipDown-5.

Has anyone used one of these systems yet?

harnesses can also be made for under $50. all you need is power, ground, and an RCA for the video feed

and of course pins for the radio connector

I contacted www.gmpartsdirect.com for my 2009 Tahoe LT without Nav. and was given this info (I gave them my VIN to confirm):

19171822 rear view mirror camera package, includes camera bracket, bezel, lift-gate harness & fastener (can be used with all accessory factory upgrade kit navigation radios) (navigation radio required); Currently this is not yet available from GM. There is an estimated time of August 30, 2009 when GM will have stock available.

19169886 navigation radio package, includes radio, antenna, data disc, harness, user information & manual; Currently this is on backorder from GM. There is not an estimated time when GM will have stock available.

Hmmm.. Its the same exact price of the part I ordered from them for my Suburban camera kit. Maybe the only difference is the harness? Not sure but hopefully we both have the correct info. I'm going to contact them tomorrow to confirm. If its on backorder and if its the wrong one, maybe they will allow me to swap for the correct one.
