Default 2010 Suburban 1500 oil sending unit

I need the oil sending unit replaced and watched numerous videos, now at my dealership and he tells me they have to take manifold cover off because unit is inside engine. Is this on the level or just a scam?.?

the gm service manual says to take off the intake manifold. Can it be done without taking it off...yes.

Any job sold from the dealer is billed using a flat rate time. A labour guide that has a set time for every repair. So regardless of what they remove to replace the sending unit, the job will be billed out using that standard time.

If it has afm, make sure they replace the sensor screen while the sensor is out.
