I'm sure this question has been asked and the answer is somewhere inside this forum, but I haven't found it. So, I'll ask again.

I just got this 2010 Suburban with navigation and DVD. It's a Bose system. I'm trying to find out the details of this system. How many speakers? Where are they? Searching the forum, I am a newbee, I did find out there is a subwoofer in the console, I didn't know that!

Well, needless to say, I'm not impressed with the Bose system. My motto for Bose is, Box Only Sound Extra. I removed the Bose system in my Corvette and the difference was amazing. But that is an 89 Corvette, an easy conversion. The Suburban scares me. A lot of electronics to mess up.

My question. I don't want to change the head unit. Can I change out the individual speakers for regular speakers, such as Pioneer, MTX or whatever else fits in the holes? Does each speaker have an amp attached to it like there was on the Corvette? Or do I have to do a major overhaul to the entire system to just to get better sound? Or, is it just better to learn to like it?

I believe there are ten. Two tweeters in the A-pillars, one in each door, two in the D-pillars, a subwoofer under the center console, and the center speaker in the dash.

 

Thanks for the welcoming. I didn't know there was one in the dash board. I was looking for the obvious ones. I saw the ones in the doors and A pillar. I didn't know about the others. Thanks. Now to find out if I can swap them out.....

 

AFAIK, you can swap the speakers. Probably should match OEM impedance.

 

Infinity Kappas are a good replacement for the blose system. Surprisingly the blose from our 2002 was far better than the blose in 2007. Pay more for less... The speakers in the front and rear doors and 6.5" speakers. Im not sure about the rear. They looked 2" to me when I had one my rear pillars apart.
