2010 Suburban Intermittent Whistle Boiling Kettle Noise Engine Area. Help please
Hi, I noticed an intermittent whistling/boiling kettle noise from the engine compartment. This usually happens after a few minutes of driving and is mostly initiated by pressing on the gas pedal. The noise also happens when I rev the vehicle.
Please find the videos here:
I've tried spraying the belts with water - it doesn't help the issue
I tried listening to the alternator pulley with a long screwdriver - no issues
I had the serpentine belt, tensioner, and idler pulley replaced a year back
Thank you in advance

First time I've ever seen a green serpentine belt, but that said, I'd be looking for a bad bearing in one of the tensioners or possibly in the alternator. Time doesn't matter anymore as quality control went out the window when we import lots of crap from Asia, where people are treated like cattle, far too often.

Thanks, I think it's the tensioner pulley. I checked the sound from last year and it sounds exactly the same - changed the tensioner and noise went away. I tried listening to the alternator with a long screw driver. No issues there.

I have a 93 suburban that sounded like a train whistle. I tried everything and nothing worked. I ended up buying a cheap stethoscope from harbor freight and probe it around and found out I ran it around the throttle body and fount the gasket had a small peace missing causing the problem. New casket and problem gone, 10 minute job, loosen the 3 screws and slide the new one in. Just something to check.
