Default 2011 suburban ipod connection issues

I have my old iphone 3g that I just keep in my car for an ipod. The last few weeks, I keep getting messages on my nav radio display that the ipod has been disconnected, even though it is still connected. It usually just reconnects itself immediately.

Now, It wont connect at all to the radio. I've tried different iphones (3g, 5s), also different ipod nanos (old small one and a new 7th generation one). None of them connect or even show a charge to the iphones or ipods. If I plug in a usb thumb drive, it won't show that there is any power going to it. All of the iphones and ipods connect to the computer no problem with the same cords I'm trying to connect to the car with!

However, if I plug in a usb cable and take it to my android phone, it does say that it is charging it.

I'm at a loss for words! Anybody have any clue what this could be? I'm out of my warranty or this would have been straight to the dealer!

Thanks!

did you try the long hold power off / reset on your iphone?

I have a standard radio, no iphone adapter, and use one of these.
