Default 2011 Tahoe LTZ Autoride motor continues to run

Looking for some guidance on an autoride motor that continues to run for up to 15 - 20 minutes. About a month ago I noticed that any weight in the back whether cargo or one of our kids, would cause the autoride motor to run resulting in loud grinding like noise even 15 - 20 minutes into our drive. I have a couple of questions that I would appreciate any help with. SInce this is my wife's vehicle I am first concerned about safety and handling. Am I correct to assume that if I disable by pulling the fuse that the vehicle handling is compromised? Next question, does the continuing motor running mean the motor/compressor is OK and there is potentially an air leak some that will not allow the motor to properly disperse and balance air to the shocks or does it mean the motor/compressor is actually bad? Thanks in advance for any help or insight into this issue.
