I just changed the Cabin Air Filter on my 2018 Suburban - No Problems.
On my 2012 Suburban 1500 LTZ there does not appear to be a filter. It looks like there is a spot for one under the passenger side kick-plate, but the blower box is one molded solid piece. The STP filter that I got at AutoZone looks like it is made to fit into that slot, if there was one there. I'm not inclined to cut into the box since I have had no major issues, just thought it was time to get some fresh air. Any thoughts?

Rock Auto has the kit to retrofit a filter. Did it to my '11 a few years ago. Basically the kit has a filter and the cover for the section you cut out of the housing to put the filter in.

Thanks Oilcanhenry and repairman54. After 8 years, I don't think adding a filter will do all that much good. IF and when I need a new evaporator coil maybe I'll do it then.

That is one great thing about cabin air filters: keeping the heater and evaporator free of dust. Replacing those means tearing down the dash, which is very time-consuming.
