Default Tahoe Cabin Air Filter 'NOT THERE'

My wifes CRV a/c circulation was just not what it used to be, so I removed the cabin filter and could not believe what I found. I don't see how it even could blow air through it, but now after replacing with new OEM filter, the a/c is ICE COLD and circulation is great.
Now comes the 99 Tahoe, it does not have one, but the later models do which I feel was a short coming on GM. Anyway, I will have to pull the fan motor and clean it out. YouTube has some really good video's FYI.
Do yourself a favor and don't forget about this type of maintenance on your ride, the end result is well worth it.

Default Tahoe Cabin Filters

The 07-14 Tahoe's do not have cabin air filters... GM doesn't believe humans require filtered air... like Marlboro they just don't think it's something we want...
(my Tesla has one, as does the Mazda)
Heck, my 2012 Wrangler had one... a vehicle not really known for creature comforts.

Does the 2015 have a cabin air filter yet?

I'll add the caveat that the 07-14 Has the capability to have the cabin filter.. you have to purchase the filter and housing close-out, then finish cutting out the knock out that is in the HVAC housing...

I would have figured gm would have used the same hvac box on all 07 t0 13 models....guess not.

I have seen other lower end gm cars with the cabin filter door but no filter included.

You would think that this vehicle @ just over $32.000 in 1999, with all the other fearures it has would have qualified for a $10.00 cabin filter. On the other hand, this figure X's thousands of production would save GM a lot of savings.

In the Tahoe yes, there should be one. In other vehicles (my wrangler and tribute) the SPOT for one was there. so while it didn't 'come' with a cabin filter, there was a OEM filter part to fit it. Making a plastic housing that fits one is a no brainer.

it's like building a house with the duct-work for central heat/AC, even if you can't afford A/C today... by putting in this part now, you save thousands in the future.
My 2009 Tahoe was $55,000 new

I am going to ask the Service Center to replace the one in my Tesla on the 24th. it goes in for a proactive replacement of the main coupling and power supply something or other... I get another Tesla loaner for a few days. With any luck it will be a AWD one!

A loaner Tesla - my friend would immediately suggest "drive it like you stole it!"

Thumbs up ' UPDATE ' Filter cavity finally clean !!!!!!

Well, since my Tahoe had no cabin filter, I decided to clean the evaporator and what a mess I found. It's really easy to do, just follow the videos on YouTube for your particular model. In just over an hour, it was all clean, washed the evaporator with water and A/C is blowing much harder and cooling much better.
