2012 Suburban Tuner for towing a good idea?
another no for the cai. removing the factory resonator box from the air duct will reduce air flow as a turbulent baffling air flow effect will set up. Second it can create fuel trim dtc as the air flow is tuned from factory. 3rd the oiled filters can contaminate the hot wire in the maf. 4th the filters do not meet oem filtering standards and create potential dust out conditions that could promote oil consumption.
other than that i love them. If i had a speed density fuel metered vehicle that was already burning oil...I would get one.

I wonder if the Tornado Air will help with that "turbulent baffling air flow effect."
I am reading about a GearVendors overdrive which acts like a 2 speed rear-end
Gear Vendors under/overdrive Trucks / Towing, Chevrolet /GMC, Dodge / Dodge RAM, Ford auxiliary transmissions.

And power isn't the biggest issue - the biggest issue is that it's a half-ton truck with a weak semifloater rear end and a GVWR of 7400 lbs. Unless it's a short toyhauler, it's likely too much trailer for a half-ton Suburban.
Make sure you're using weight distribution, and keep an eye on your rear axle weight and gross vehicle weight. A properly-loaded 7700-lb trailer will have about 1000 lbs of tongue weight. Your Suburban only has a payload of around 1500 lbs, so that leaves you about 500 lbs for people, gear, and your trailer hitch. That ain't much. Ditto with your rear axle rating of 4200 lbs.
Have you ever weighed your rig? If not, next time you take it out, stop at a CAT scales for a weigh. Costs $10, and it'll be a real eye opener for you.
I am taking it to my buddys grain elevator and weighing truck, trailer empty, trailer loaded, tongue along with the bikes and quad separately.. I want as much information as I can get.
I also have an 05 Sub LT that has never had any problems pulling skid loaders, cars, other cars on trailers etc etc, and I have never felt underpowered the way I feel in this truck.
I really do appreciate all the advice, Y'all are awesome for helping me out.
I guess I was looking for a vendor that made that magic potion to give me what I was looking for.

Don't forget to add the weight of your family. I have three teenagers, and as a family we weigh almost 900 lbs.
What axle ratio do you have in the new Burb? That can make quite a difference in perceived power - I can definitely feel a difference in responsiveness between my Denali with the 3.42 and the Burb with the 3.73.

It's just me and my Lab in the truck which totals 255 lbs.
I'll have to look at gear ratio and get back to you this weekend when I get home to that truck.
I'm driving the 05 for work this week aandi can feel the better throttle response and low end torque even when pulling my Pace American 16x8 enclosed.

It's a Suburban rated to pull 7,000ish pounds, not a Peterbilt pulling a 30-ton semitrailer. Besides, six forward gears is plenty. Maybe, just maybe, it might be a consideration for an older truck with a four speed.
