Default 2012 Tahoe SSV positive battery cable. Defect or made this way for a reason??

I have 2012 Tahoe SSV. Recently the electrical system went crazy. The dash lights, Door locks, Downshifting, And more. I have an extended warrantee and took it to a Chevy dealer. They had it 4 days and found nothing wrong. They did let me borrow a new Silverado to drive. Got the Tahoe back and 2 weeks later the same thing happened. I took it back and they said it was the positive cable corrosion at the terminal. I paid them 400 bucks for a new one. They had to get it from the factory. Because the SSV has 3 fuse blocks and 5 wires coming from it. Got the new one installed and kept the old one. I looked at it at the dealership and noticed the insulation didn't go all the way to the terminal. The old one corroded there. I asked why. No explanation. My question is, Why is there bare copper wire showing about a quarter inch from the terminal. Never saw one like that. Is there a reason for this, Other than having to get it replaced because of corrosion. I taped it up when I got it home. Any comments would be welcome. Thanks for reading this and sorry it is so long. Have a great weekend.

Welcome to the forum.

First, what's the SSV? I've heard of PPV (Police Pursuit Vehicle).

Second, if you're worried about corrosion on the new cable, remove the tape and apply some grease to the exposed copper.

Thanks for the reply 73shark. The SSV is similar to the PPV. The difference is the SSV was set up for gov service with 4 wheel drive and a z71 off road package. The PPV is 2 wheel drive and I think it was made to go faster. At least the speedometer goes higher. This one sat on the lot for 2 years and then a lady leased it for 2 years. I got it with 47k miles on it. I chose it over other ones because of what I do. I raise animals, Goats mainly. And I live in a wet area in Florida. The green swamp. So I didn't want leather, carpet or a third row seat. So this is just what I wanted. I looked for a while. It has a lot of extra heavy gauge wire running through it. For roof lights and accessories. I just want to know what the purpose of leaving bare copper wire from the terminal a quarter inch or so. I can't see it being a benefit. I haven't had any problems with it since yet. It's only been a couple of weeks since it was replaced. Thanks again for the reply.
