he's asking why he can't just say "CALL X" (where X is a name, most likely mine).

Anyway, I said that's because GM can't do tech.

His toyota sync'd his address book (from the iphone 5) to his headunit.
My Wrangler did the same thing
My buddy's Ford did this as well.

I said YEP, welcome to "GM ummm... 'tech'"?

You can skip the Bluetooth tag when making the call and skip to voice. Bluetooth is optional. I know that isn't much better, but it does skip one tag.

For numbers that your Father uses a lot, he may want to store them in the truck. This way, he could say "Dial" or "Call" & [Tag Name].

It sounds like the Toyota system is easier to connect to your phone. It will be nice to see the next version of the GM systems.

In any case, it's a terrible system.

 

When you make a call, you should be able to say dial, after pressing the phone button. I believe Bluetooth is only required on the 2009 for pairing the phone.

 

I don't think we are on the same page.

Dial + name only works if you spend 2 months programming all 600 names from my cell phone into the truck.

BlueTooth + Voice gives you direct control of the phone.

why should I spend 2 months in hell programming the truck to voice tags when Ford, Chrysler, and Toyota sync your address book to the headunit?
